Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Twoward (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an app that helps two partners stay connected. We take your privacy seriously — especially because a relationship app holds some of your most personal information. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the control you have.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the Twoward mobile app and our website. By using Twoward, you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address, name, date of birth, and gender, used to create and secure your account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a basic identifier (and, where you allow it, your name and email).
- Relationship content you create — your relationship context (e.g. status, living situation), moods and check-ins, promises and their completions, love notes and reactions, “hearts”, wishes, daily questions, reflections, and journal entries.
- Conversations with Sage — the messages you exchange with our in-app assistant, “Sage”, and summaries Sage keeps to provide continuity.
- Device & technical data — a push-notification token (if you enable notifications) and basic diagnostic/crash data to keep the app stable.
Some content is private to you and never shown to your partner in the app — including your journal entries, your private Sage conversations, and your private reflections.
How Sage (AI) uses your data
Sage is powered by AI. To generate a response, the relevant content is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. We design Sage to be careful with what it surfaces:
- You control a “what Sage can share” level (Low / Medium / High) that governs how much of your private context Sage may draw on when helping your partner:
- Low — Sage uses only app-visible basics (such as your mood, love language, daily rhythm, and the couple’s connection score). It does not draw on your private journal, your private Sage conversations, your “How We’re Doing” reflections, your daily check-in answers, or the couple insight when helping your partner.
- Medium / High — Sage may also use a distilled, paraphrased sense of themes from those private sources to help your partner support you — never quoting you, never repeating anything said in frustration, and never revealing scores or ratings.
- Your private journal entries inform your partner’s guidance only if you explicitly mark an individual entry as shareable; otherwise they stay private to you. Your private Sage conversations are never shown or quoted to your partner.
- Sage is instructed never to quote you directly to your partner or repeat things said in frustration.
Your content is not used to train third-party AI models.
How we use your data
- To provide and personalise the app and Sage’s support.
- To sync shared content between you and your partner.
- To send notifications you’ve enabled (e.g. a note or heart from your partner).
- To keep the app secure, debug problems, and improve reliability.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with service providers that help us run Twoward, under their own privacy and security obligations:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database/storage.
- Anthropic — AI processing for Sage.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics.
Your shared couple content (e.g. notes, moods you log, promises) is visible to your partner — that’s the point of the app. Your private content (above) is not.
Your choices and rights
- Export your data — Settings → Manage account → “Export my data” gives you a copy of your information.
- Delete your account — Settings → Manage account → “Delete my account” permanently deletes your account and your personal history. Where you’re paired, your partner’s own data is preserved and they’re returned to an unpaired state.
- Clear Sage history — Settings lets you wipe Sage’s memory of your conversations.
- Notifications — you can turn these off in your device settings.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data as described above. Backups and diagnostic logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.
Children
Twoward is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
International users
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. We rely on those providers’ safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Twoward evolves. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
